Materials Required
Crimper (or soldering iron & solder)
Electrical tape
Directions
Crimp or solder 150 Ohm resistor to female terminal sockets. I used a soldering iron.
Push terminals into the back of the top first and third connector holes (see second Image). You may need to use a small flathead screwdriver or similar tool to push the pins all the way into the connector.
Cover exposed resistor and wire with electrical tape.
Plug connector into the back of the Apex DOS.
A message should be displayed in Apex Fusion that says a new tile is available within a couple of minutes. Drag the new tile to your dashboard.

Replacing XXL 750 Valve
For those of you having issues with the standard valve and wanting to replace it, the following guide will describe one way to do it. The method will allow you to replace the diaphragm valve with a 1” gate valve and you will be able to continue using the pipe clamp attached to your stand.
Pretty much right after I assembled my Red Sea Reefer XXL 750 and got it running I had issues with surging/air noises due to the diaphragm valve on the main drain. Being fed up with the constant adjustments required to stop the noise, I decided to figure out a way to replace it.
For those of you having issues with the standard valve and wanting to replace it, the following guide will describe one way to do it. The method will allow you to replace the diaphragm valve with a 1” gate valve and you will be able to continue using the pipe clamp attached to your stand. All you need to do is perform the following steps:
Cut the pipe at the intersection of smaller and larger diameter sections of the reducer coupling. See red line in the first image . I suggest a hack saw or some other tool which will give you a straight cut.
Put aside the portion of the pipe attached to the valve. It is no longer needed.
Sand the ring on the remaining section of pipe with 60 grit sandpaper until it fits into a 1” slip union. Optionally, you can attach the gate valve here instead. I recommend using a union so the valve can be replaced easier in the future if need be.
PVC Cement the union to the sanded ring. Be sure not to push the sanded ring too far into the union so you still have space for your stand’s pipe clamp to attach.
PVC Cement a short piece of 1” pipe to the other end of the union.
PVC Cement your 1” slip gate valve to the end of the short 1” pipe.
PVC Cement another piece of 1” pipe to the other end of your 1” slip gate valve. This piece should be long enough to reach the same depth as the secondary drain pipe.
Reattach assembled drain pipe and adjust gate valve as needed (see second image).
